Michael graduated from Monash University with a first class honours degrees in both economics and law.
After practising as a solicitor with Baker & McKenzie he spent three years at Oxford University reading for the degrees of B.C.L, M. Phil and D.Phil. His doctoral thesis, on the defence of passing on the claims of restitution, was published as a book.
Before joining the Bar Michael spent one year as an associate to the Hon Justice Ken Hayne AC, in the High Court of Australia.
Michael is also a Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne where he has lectured on the law of trusts and restitution.
